Building Blocks was created to move the new knitter beyond the basics by introducing the major knitting techniques in a systematic approach. Each block builds upon the skills of the previous block, allowing the knitter to gain confidence and knowledge while working toward a beautiful sampler afghan (or two baby blankets).
The 12 blocks in this project naturally lend themselves to a 'Block of the Month' series. Having to complete one 12' square per month seems to suit most knitters. The time-challenged knitter is able to find enough time in the month for this amount of knitting. The prolific knitter can easily finish this block in the month and return to other projects while waiting for the next class.
Some knitters make the project all out of one color. Others use 2, 3, 4, 6, or 12 colors. Some afghans have been made for students going away to college and were knit in shool colors. With all the coordinating colors of Simplworsted yarn the possibilities are practically endless!
Simpliworsted is a super soft, durable yarn and is machine washable. Once you knit with it, it is sure to be one of your favorites. We stock every color.
Prerequisites: Class attendees must know how to knit, purl, and cast on. Not sure if you're ready? Call The Flaming Ice Cube and we will be happy to help make that determination.
